Fundraising

Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre is the sole authorized wildlife rehabilitation centre serving roughly 130,000 square kilometres of Northern Ontario. We have cared for animals from as far away as Kenora, Timmins, and North Bay. Since each animal has its own special needs for diet, housing, and treatment, the costs add up. Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre is a not-for-profit organization and a registered charity. Turtle Pond accommodates all species of wildlife whenever possible, and strives to find transport for animals to other wildlife rehabilitation facilities in Ontario if it is in the best interest of the patient.  Our current fundraisers are listed below. Thank you very much for your interest in helping out financially.

Turtle Pond on CanadaHelps.org

In 2020, we were granted registered charity status and are able to issue tax receipts for donations.  Small charities run by volunteers don't have a lot of time or money for website development and e-commerce, but through this site, an amazing array of fundraising tools are available to help us, and we welcome your involvement. You can make tribute donations to loved ones (ie. birthdays, in memoriam donations), request pledges for a sporting event (charity walk, etc.) - all this for at the cost of nothing but a few minutes of your time. The environmental movement asks us to think globally and act locally. This is a great way to do just that.  (And you'd be amazed at what happens when you simply ask.)

Facebook and PayPal Giving Fundraisers

Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre is now listed with PayPal Giving Fund Canada, so we're eligible to be a beneficiary of both Facebook fundraisers and PayPal Giving fundraisers! (If you're on Facebook, you may see your friends posting these fundraisers around their birthdays.) If - at some point - you'd like to create a fundraiser on Facebook, log in to your Facebook account, search for "fundraisers" in your Facebook search bar (while on newsfeed page), and then follow the prompts. It'll automatically create a personalized page that you can share with your Facebook friends. Donors to your fundraiser will receive an automatic tax receipt from PayPal Giving Fund Canada via an email from Facebook. Donations are in Canadian funds. It's never been so easy to help!

With PayPal Giving Canada, you can also donate via your PayPal account or mobile app. If you make Turtle Pond Wildlife Centre a "favourite" charity, an option to donate $1 will pop up when you're paying for online purchases with PayPal. You can even invite friends to contribute by sharing a PayPal Giving Fund Fundraiser. It all adds up.

Turtle Pond's Wish List

Some prefer to contribute items we can always use instead of monetary donations. We appreciate those donations as well!  To make it easier, we created an online registry of items. It's just like shopping online, but the selected item is shipped straight to the centre! It's especially handy during times of physical distancing.

If you prefer to to shop locally, please click here for a simple list of items.
